Colleen Reed took her first PEP class when her son was 2 1/2 and a feisty, strong-willed toddler. New perspectives on parenting and new strategies to foster a cooperative relationship with her son transformed Colleen's family and professional life.

In addition to serving on the PEP staff and leading classes since 2012, she taught Music Together classes for 12 years where she put her PEP skills to work in understanding young children's needs in a group setting.

Colleen lives in the DC area with her husband, teenage son and a friendly flock of chickens.

Meselu Mekonnen came to PEP in 2021 to facilitate parenting programs with the Ethiopian community and enjoyed it so much that she joined the staff as an Education Coordinator. She earned an MA in Organizational Leadership and has experience in project management and community outreach programs.
Meselu supports the PEP Family Resiliency Program, which serves hundreds of parents in Maryland. As a mother of 2 children in elementary school, she is inspired to help parents feel more encouraged and confident.
