Communicating with Tweens & Teens | March 25, 2025
Tuesday, March 25, 8 - 9 pm ET
Have you tried to “lay down the law,” reason, or negotiate with your teen? Are you wondering how to have a real conversation? Is it a mystery what your teen may be feeling?
This webinar will provide insights to establish and maintain a strong, loving relationship with your teen.
Our goal is to help parents and caregivers:
- Gain an understanding of the teen brain to help you prepare and appreciate the developmental process at this stage
- Explore ways of relating to teens and numerous techniques to encourage communication
- Learn how to shift your mindset from manager to consultant and give up the illusion of control in favor of real influence
During the live webinar, PEP presenters will invite participant questions to brainstorm solutions you can try right away. They will share personal stories and experiences from leading PEP programs to illustrate the impact of this approach.
- Colleen Reed, PEP Program Director
- Angelina Murray, PEP Family Resiliency Program Facilitator
Your enrollment includes access to the video recording, an audio version that you can listen to podcast-style, and handouts.
Your Instructor
Colleen Reed took her first PEP class when her son was 2 1/2 and a feisty, strong-willed toddler. New perspectives on parenting and new strategies to foster a cooperative relationship with her son transformed Colleen's family and professional life.
In addition to serving on the PEP staff and leading classes since 2012, she taught Music Together classes for 12 years where she put her PEP skills to work in understanding young children's needs in a group setting.
Colleen lives in the DC area with her husband, teenage son and a friendly flock of chickens.
"I enjoyed the program. I really liked hearing the strategies and then a real life scenario that actually pertained to me and how to step-by-step use the strategy to solve the problem."

"I liked it! It's not always easy to attend classes in-person, so the online class is very convenient and conducive for both parents to participate."
