Class Description

Encouragement is the KEY ingredient that makes all other parenting strategies work. And really understanding how to encourage your child is not as easy as it sounds.

This class is where parents build the foundation for their approach and answer the question "What kind of parent do I want to be?" You wouldn’t build a house on a weak foundation; likewise, you can’t help children develop into capable, resilient adults (that is the goal!) when day-to-day interactions and relationships are steeped in a negative, discouraging spin cycle.

In this class you'll learn encouragement strategies and techniques to build a better connection with your child. Parents find that many of the challenges leading them to PEP -- defiance, power struggles, screen time issues -- become less problematic when they have tools to foster their child's independence, resilience, and cooperation.

Class Dates

Saturday, September 7 to Friday, October 4, 2019.

How the Class Works

  • New video lesson released each Saturday to watch at your convenience.
  • Try This At Home exercises, handouts, and articles.
  • Live weekly Class Discussions with the class instructor from 9 - 10 pm Eastern on Wednesdays, September 11, 18, 25 and October 2.
  • Comments sections each week moderated by the class instructor to post your questions and connect with other parents.
  • Class videos, handouts and materials available to you for one year to review and revisit as needed.

This Course Includes

4 Instructional Video Lessons that are short (5-6 minutes each) and packed with practical tips and advice to use right away. Video lessons include role plays to show you real life examples of what to say and do, and what NOT to say and do!

5 "Try This At Home" Exercises to put each lesson into immediate practice with your family.

5 Topical PEP Parenting Articles to dig deeper into the topics.

7 Handy printouts with examples and language to use with your children, and which you can post nearby to keep you on track.

4 Live, online Class Discussions with your PEP class instructor who will answer your questions (you can post them in advance).

Comments sections where you will receive Tips of the Week and get your questions answered.

How Much Time Will This Take?

That depends on you. Learning these new parenting skills is like learning a new language; it takes practice.

Reviewing the instructional videos and handouts will take about 20-30 minutes. The Try This At Home exercises are designed to fit into and improve your every day life. The Q&A Video Conference is 1 hour each week. And the Class Discussion Forum takes as much or as little time as you want to contribute. As always, the more you participate, the more you benefit.
